Trinity Arts - LIVE! TUESDAY November 9, 2010

Trinity Arts - Live!

ALERT  --  Our New Monthly Date:
2nd "Tuesday" of each month!

Next Show: This Tuesday, November 9 at...
 6:30pm   (NOT 7pm as before!)
And... Still FREE! (of course)

NOTECH-ch-ch-changes are happening at TAL!  Wow.  Throughout this announcement you will note some MAJOR CHANGES at Trinity Arts - LIVE! as we continue to modify and expand this monthly ARTS EXPERIENCE experiment. We sincerely invite you to drop in on this growing little community of artists and art lovers where "YOU BECOME FAMILY just by walking in the door!"

Trinity Arts - LIVE!   is THIS TUESDAY and we have some GREAT SURPRISES!

FIRST:  New to the D/FW area we are starting the first "KIDS & PARENTS Open Mic" !!  That's right.  Already known for encouraging and promoting young, talented, emerging young artists, now from 6:30 - 7:30 Trinity Arts - LIVE! will dedicate our first hour to giving Kids and their Parents (separately or together) the stage to share their poetry and music!  This is on a "first come" basis and SIGN IN begins at 6:00pm sharp when the DOORS OPEN!  PLEASE: Pass the word around!

SECOND:  We have a wonderful, new Feature Performer gracing our stage: Taylor Teachout, a FAST-rising singer/songwriter!  Her smooth, soothing, laid back style will make you feel like you're nestled in some kind of comfy cabin living room or something.  You'll love her.
ALSO This month:
JENNY HOLMES will make her debut, sharing her soft guitar and vocals with us... something you will surely enjoy.
GARY BROWN, singer/songwriter/poet will offer both poetry and song throughout the evening.
JULIE POE (our HOST) & Friends will bring us some wonderful, original poetry throughout the night.
VideoPoems! We will be screening THREE VIDEOPOEMS!
From RANT: LAST NIGHT AS I WAS SLEEPING and STEALING SUGAR, and a production of the local arts confab: The Studio, FREQUENCY.
AND... Our all night VIDEO WALL will be displaying incredible artworks.  This month's topic:  UNUSUAL ART & UNUSUAL ARTISTS (not shown last month due to technical difficulties).  It'll knock your socks off!

NOW... from last month:  If there were enough space here, we could go on and on about  Eric Tipton and FAINT IMAGE (Richard & Vicki Blackwell) from last month!  Beautiful.  Exceptional.    Find them and listen to them!
AND:
Nothing can appropriately express our gratitude to Richard & Vicki Blackwell (FAINT IMAGE) and  David Hooten (Stage Mgr. and Performer) for having over the last year and more, sacrificially traveled "cross-country" each month to volunteer, perform, work and help us establish the Trinity Arts - LIVE! community in downtown Dallas.  Now taking on new adventures and responsibilities in the growing arts communities just south of Dallas, they will be less frequently seen at our intimate little venue in Dallas each month.  We love youWe miss youWe support you!

Trinity Arts - LIVE!
A fun evening of excellent music, poetry, visual arts and friend

THIS WEDNESDAY

October 13th at 7pm
FREE!
Trinity Arts - LIVE! is THIS WEDNESDAY and we really have a special show lined up. For several reasons, this should be a night to really enjoy and remember... and no tornadoes this time, we promise
NOTE: Last month the crazy weather turned our event into the "DOWNTOWN DALLAS TORNADO SHOW". Somehow, while stopping to take shelter, two of our Guest Performers: Uryon Adams and Molly Bush still made it from across the metroplex to the show to perform but that pesky tornado caused most of you to miss them.   :-(   Therefore, these true TROOPERS will definitely be brought back to you soon so that, weather permitting, you can come and experience their wonderful talent.
This month:
FAINT IMAGE (RICHARD & VICKI BLACKWELL & Friends) is going to mesmerize us throughout the night with their spectacular music... from beginning to end! WARNING:  Their music is highly infectious!
Our FEATURE is ERIC TIPTON (YES! ERIC IS IN THE HOUSE!).  He is doing a really great set that will leaving you still dying for more.  Tell your friends, pile everyone in the car and get here for this.  You'll love yourself for it.
GARY BROWN will finally be performing a set... for a reason: It is music written for, inspired by or dedicated to Cory, his hero and wife who just flew in from El Salvador where her life-saving work there has been impacting many hundreds of people in that beautiful yet troubled country.  (and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CORY!) NOTE: For so many of you who have asked when and where they might see her while she is in the U.S., this will be one of those opportunities.  Contact Gary for more info about their schedule for the next few weeks.
DAVID HOOTEN will once again grace us with song and our event HOST: JULIE POE (& Friends) will bring us some wonderful, original poetry throughout the night with... our new and popular Faint Image backed Open Mic segment towards the end of the evening to cap it all off bee-yuuu-tee-fully.
HEY!  We will also be screening the VIDEOPOEM:  FREQUENCY, a production of the local arts confab: The Studio.
AND... Our all night VIDEO WALL will be displaying incredible artworks.  This month's topic:  UNUSUAL ART & UNUSUAL ARTISTS.  It'll knock your socks off. (The "DOWNTOWN DALLAS TORNADO SHOW" last month bumped this great display off the schedule so you can still catch it this Wednesday!)
Additionally, the CAUSE we are promoting this month is KATIE'S PROMISE ( http://www.facebook.com/pages/Katies-Promise/34016404949?v=info ).  Eric Tipton will be filling you in on his personal connection to this important and worthy effort to assist families of children with cancer.

Trinity Arts - LIVE!
THIS WEDNESDAY
September 8th at 7pm
We Will Present More Arts Entertainment
Than The Law Allows... For Free
This time we simply can't afford to list too many details (know whadda mean). The most qualified Suspicious & Unusual Suspects we've rounded up to pull this job off are:
  • Faint Image (the notorious Richard & Vicki Blackwell) our extraordinary House Band, aka The FIXERS
  • Andie Collard, our new Resident Artist, aka QUEEN of the CANVAS
  • Kirk Thurmond/Band, an exquisite, transforming jazz/blues/fusion squad, aka The MAGICIANS
  • Uryon Adams, astounding child prodigy keyboardist, aka KID BEETHOVEN (Don't mess with this guy!)
  • Molly Bush, aka  Miz MOLLYWOOD (it's her cover, sh-h-h-h); wonderful, emerging singer/songwriter
  • Gary Brown, aka (Can't disclose it) ...fugettaboutit, nobody can't never pin nothin' on him
  • Julie Poe, aka Sister Surreptitious, Host and Known Ringleader of a band of flagrant poets such as Gail Atwater and rumored to be bringing a spontaneous gang of roving OPEN MIC poets, as well.  (Bring your bodyguard... and your poetry)
  • Michael Smith, the brilliant yet deceptively unassuming maestro of all things audio/video/groovy-o (aka Dr. Tek) launches the: VIDEO WALL of the SECOND (or is it the Third?) UNIVERSE
Sh-h-h-h-h.  Don't blow our cover... just flash the buzz around on your Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and email lists!  Bring your friends and cameras (if you dare)!

Trinity Arts - LIVE!
A fun evening of excellent music, poetry, visual arts and friends.

FIRST A SUMMARY: We have to give credit where due and WOW... what a fantastic show last month! ROBERT GOTCHER simply grabbed the entire room and rocked!  Check out his web site for a review of it and more info: http://robertgotcher.com/  URYON ADAMS wowwed the house with his dazzling skills as a composer and pianist, despite only being 12 years old!  FAINT IMAGE again brought a level of class and beauty and professionalism to the show that just keeps you begging for more and more.  Surprise Poets offered many thought provoking pieces.  THANK YOU ALL!

Now...
THIS WEDNESDAY... WEDNESDAY... WEDNESDAY!  August 11 at 7pm
Wait til you see our line-up for THIS WEDNESDAY at the Backbeat Cafe & Listening Room!   What a REALLY GREAT (Free) SHOW with at least THREE (3) EXTRA SPECIAL NEW HAPPENINGS... in addition to the incredible talent you have come to expect. (This would be gratuitous over-hype if it simply wasn't true.)
Listen Up:  In addition to the extraordinary treat of hearing regional legend FAINT IMAGE (Richard and Vicki Blackwell) and
the incredibly talented child prodigy pianist, composer and our friend, 12 year old  URYON ADAMS and
the wonderful sounds of dual guitarists/singers:  DAVID HOOTEN & DARIN JONES and
the unclassifiable, vertical classical guitar playing singer/songwriter GARY BROWN and
an eclectic mix of contributing poets, this month we also have:
  • Our Feature Performer: SPENCER GARLAND playing his LAST "FAREWELL DALLAS" SHOW before moving to L.A. to find fame and fortune and who-knows-what!  Let's send him off with all the love we can throw at him!
AND...
  • Our Feature Visual Artist: ANDIE COLLARD who will be painting LIVE (a first for Trinity Arts - LIVE!)!
AND... (WAIT!  How can there possibly be MORE you ask?)
IT'S B-A-A-A-ACK!  The VIDEO WALL returns! All night long, on the wall next to the stage we will be playing the most incredible set of vintage videos from 1898-1903 that you have NEVER seen.  Really!  We (Michael Smith) have seamed together 58 of Edison's very first film clips with 22 of the very first black & white TV commercials to run silently ALL NIGHT LONG!  Should be quite the experience.

Flash the buzz on your Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and email lists!  Bring your friends and cameras!

We will be updating our web/blog page and Facebook very soon at:  http://trinityartslive.blogspot.com/ and www.facebook.com/TrinityArtsLive

APRIL'S SHOW IS GONNA BE GREAT!! Wow.

Welcome to the April 2010:

Trinity Arts - LIVE!

A fun evening of excellent music, top notch poetry and friends.

LAST MONTH: If our switching to Wednesday nights resulted in you missing this show...oh my... please don't  let it happen again.  It was fantastic. Faint Image (Richard & Vicki Blackwell) mesmerized us with still more, new creations.  Breaking Light actually converted the entire facility into a polyphonic, cosmo-stratic, psychadelamorphic experience.  Really.  Darryl Ratcliff absolutely SPOILED us with a straight 15 minute set of poetry readings that moved the room from laughter to tears with the skill only a Master Poet can manage.  David Hooten and Friends effortlessly kept our attention with some of his new works.  Gary Brown offered more new songs accompanied by his very unorthodox method of playing the classical guitar and this time... also introduced the place to an intriguing, alternative style of playing the dulcimer.  Three wonderfully produced Videopoems  and fascinating "photos from the web " filled the Electronic Gallery all night.  Our CAUSE for March was Shirts=Awesome, the new venture of Justin Nygren who filled us in on what work they have done to raise awareness and funds for the Haiti Relief effort (wwww.ShirtsEqualsAwesome.com). Again, I have to say it: Hard to imagine such a monthly venue... for FREE, isn't it?

Thank YOU.  It takes so much work from a lot of people to make each show possible.  Your attendance makes it all worthwhile.   Thank you to everyone for coming out to support these artists with your presence.

THIS WEDNESDAY, APRIL 14:

In our unique non-stop performance style you can again expect to see our entertaining Host, Justin Nygren introducing these performers:

Faint Image (Richard & Vicki Blackwell) with Gary Adlong (percussion) and Justin Dunn (bass) will gloriously break the show open with some absolutely astounding music via an opening mini-concert --  and playing in varying capacities throughout the show.

Tackleboxx: Ruben Venntello (vocals, guitar), Gary Adlong (percussion) and Justin Dunn (bass) will flat out make your soul grin with their style and expertise.  Beautiful.

David Hooten, Singer, Songwriter and Poet

Gary Brown, Singer, Songwriter and Poet

Featured Author/Poet: Charlynn JohnsGet ready for this:  Among other things she is a Professional Clown (CAREEE), a poet, the founder of Sunshine After Rain Ministries (which also makes a her a continuous world traveler and earth angel to orphans and the poorest of children around the globe) and author of the newly published, "A Good Reason To Go" which chronicles some of her amazing trek around this planet over the last 13 years.  And YES!  Her book will be available there and YES she will sign it for you

Electric Poetry:  Another selection of Videopoetry will be screened.

Electronic Gallery: Get ready -- This month we will have continuously running, silent, vintage turn-of-the-century videos (Yes, that's 1899 thru early 1900's!  Non-stop, rare videos of every imaginable type and subject matter from this era projected onto the large screen next to the stage all night long!)

AND OUR FEATURE PERFORMER... Zachary Scott Pohl and Friend(?) Zach is no stranger to this here territory.  As media reviews will attest, we're talking "growing legend material".  Whether he occupies the stage alone, with a partner or the whole blazing band... Zach is always the COMPLETE PACKAGE!  Telling compelling stories through his music, his songs with a message will make you think, something we need a whole lot more of these days.

This month's "Cause for Awareness and Support"  is SUNSHINE AFTER RAIN Ministries, founded by our Feature Author/Poet, Charlynn Johns.  Learn about this amazingly powerful work that is actively changing and transforming the lives of children around the planet.  In fact, you can probably even join this effort on their global adventures of love.  Ask her how!

Oh.  If that weren't enough: At each show we are also conducting a drawing for a Gift Card for FREE COFFEE courtesy of the Backbeat Cafe & Listening Room .    :-)

Whew.  And again, as usual... can you believe all  of this is FREE??!!!  Great artists. Great art. A fantastic community of instant friends and much FUN. Please do yourself a big treat and support these artists simply by your presence.

Street parking in downtown Dallas after 6pm is also FREE!!!

This entire night is our gift to you. PLEASE:  Tell your friends (and bring your cameras!) and they will love you forever and so will our artists.  NOTE:  Please email us your photos so we can share them with our growing online community.  We hope to soon begin posting them here and on our Facebook page.

Why Do We Do This?

This is a wonderful, fun-filled event designed to accomplish a few things.  First: We love to bring great artist related efforts and causes to the public's attention.  You really do need to know of these efforts and causes and the ways you can personally support them.  Originally, we promoted and raised support for the Trinity Arts Conference ( http://www.trinityartsconference.com/ ).  They are perhaps the most unique arts community you will ever encounter however, they have recently determined to take the year of 2010 off; call it a Year of Jubilee.  So, each month we are now promoting and educating folks regarding a different, worthwhile effort, cause or project, typically involving one or more artists within our own community.  (What a great idea, eh?)  In coming months, be prepared to learn of the some of the most interesting and "support worthy" things happening within and around our arts community!

Second:  We are all about building and growing community.  When you arrive... you become family.   We offer amazing and very diverse artists an excellent venue where they can share their creations with a very diverse, constantly expanding, attentive and appreciative audience; often one they would not typically find on their own.  What a great combination.

And... we offer you the most fast-paced and diverse monthly venue for stimulating arts entertainment that you will find in the metroplex.  Constantly changing, every show is designed to hopefully introduce you to something new.  It is the PERFECT mid-week complement to your week-end arts schedules.

What a deal.  Bring a date, spouse, family, friend or total stranger.  If you desire, please feel free to just drop whatever you may want into the "Mailbox at the Door" for the monthly Causes you want to support (a tip jar for the house band will also be available). Please come out and support these artists who are volunteering their time and talents for this most excellent event.

Just your being there... makes our night!

And... Thank YOU.  It takes so much work from a lot of people to make each show possible.  Your attendance makes it all worthwhile.  Every single person who shows up to our shows, perhaps even bringing friends along, is deeply appreciated.  Thank you to everyone for coming out to support these artists with your presence.

Trinity Arts - LIVE! -- The FEB-r-r-r-r-r-rUARY Show

Trinity Arts - LIVE!

A fun evening of excellent music, top notch poetry and friends.

REVIEW: The January Show was sooooo good.  We  are so privileged so have such talent grace our path.  AGAIN,  a massive Thank You to: Faint Image (Richard & Vicki Blackwell) & Mimo Morreale, Uryon Adams, Sonya Javette, Darryl Ratcliff and the wonderful videos from the creative minds of James Michael Starr and The Studio!  The continuously running silent videos in the Electronic Gallery via digital projector on the big screen next to the stage added an especially fascinating dimension to the entire evening.  And how can we thank Scott Dorn with Pegasus News enough for his evening long photo journaling and his posting of a sample of these online!  I have a feeling we may be seeing more of him and his camera in months to come, in several ways.  And... THANK YOU for showing up to support these excellent artists.  It takes al lot of work from a lot of people to make a single show possible.  Yet, without your attendance and visual support for these amazing artists... we simply will not continue to exist.  Believe me when I say that every single person who shows up to our shows and perhaps even brings friends, is deeply appreciated.

And... we offer you the most fast-paced and diverse monthly venue for stimulating arts entertainment that you will find in the metroplex.  Constantly changing, every show is designed to hopefully introduce you to something new.  It is the PERFECT mid-week complement to your week-end arts schedules.

Oh, did I mention... there is still no admission charge. What a deal.  Bring a date, spouse, family, friend or total stranger.  If you desire, please feel free to just drop whatever you may want into the "Mailbox at the Door" for the causes you want to support (a tip jar for the house band will also be available). Please come out and support these artists who are volunteering their time and talents for this most excellent event (that means their only pay is your presence and appreciation and a blessing none of us can touch).

Your being there... makes our night!
